This is one of my favorite pictures of just the 2 of us. We took time after the ceremony to take pictures just the two of us. After all the nerves and jitters of the day, it was such a blessing to just be (be with each other… be calm and relaxed… be husband and wife). I love the peace and joy that is captured in this shot.
The months leading up to our wedding were extremely emotional for a variety of reasons that were unexpected, and unrelated to the minutia of wedding planning. My dad had just been diagnosed with lung cancer, had surgery removing part of his lungs 4 months before our wedding, and was in the middle of treatment when our wedding date arrived. During his recovery process from the surgery he made sure to walk “at least as long as the aisle” with the nurses everyday to make sure he would be strong enough on our special day. Needless to say, the walk down the aisle and our father-daughter dance was quite emotional (as you can see by my mom and sister) and even more special than I could have ever imagined.

My Nana passed away 2 months after our wedding, but it was such a blessing to have her there enjoying our wedding day. Having her and my Grand-dad there supporting us and blessing us with 61 years of wisdom was such a gift.
Happy Anniversary Kerry + Joe! We were blessed to be a part of your day!
