WELCOME TO OUR

Journal

In a social-media-run-world we LOVE blogging because it gives us a space to share more of our work that just "the highlight reel". Honestly, anyone can take 3 great photos from a wedding to share on Instagram. We love sharing an ENTIRE wedding day so that you can see how consistently beautiful our work is. Plus, it's a fun way for our clients to share their wedding images with friends and family online. We hope you enjoy!

The Wishing Tree

After our perfect dinner at the Melting Pot for my 20th birthday, Jacob had one more surprise. We took a short walk down Colorado and turned left down a small alley. My first thought was that he was taking me to dessert at Il Fornaio, which was the only place I could think of that was down the alley.

I was wrong.

We turned a corner and before me was the most magical scene I could imagine. It was right out of a Nicolas Sparks novel. There were trees filling the courtyard and on the branches of the trees were small, folded, white pieces of paper. We walked over to a tree and began reading.

“I wish to find love someday.”
“I wish for peace in the world.”
“I wish for a baby brother.”

They were wishing trees.

I was overcome with emotion. I had never seen something so beautiful, and reading the wishes of strangers made the experience even more beautiful. We separated, each enthralled in the wishes we were reading, and in silence, read as many wishes as we could get our hands on. I didn’t understand them all completely, but it was amazing to think that I was getting a small look into the hearts of complete strangers.

“I wish daddy would come home.”
“I wish for an ‘A’ on my chemistry test.”
“I wish he would notice me.”

Finally, we each ended up at the end of the trees, where a box sat with blank pieces of paper and pencils. We each grabbed one. Then, Jacob made a suggestion.
“Let’s each take two. We will write the same wish on both, hang one in the trees and keep one in a safe place to open together when they come true.”

We separated again and I was nervous to write what I wanted to write. I thought that if I wrote the words that I might jinx it, but then I realized I’m not superstitious at all so I put the pencil to the paper and wrote:

“I wish we will fall in love. I wish that God will allow me to keep Jacob forever.”

I put one in the pocket of my dress and hid the other deep in the branches of the fullest tree I could find, worrying that he might see what I had written.

Just 10 months later, I would get to see what he had written:

“I wish that the joy we have in dating will grow into a life of deep love for one another that never stops playing.”

Both of our wishes had come true. But, that’s another Little Love Story.
