WELCOME TO OUR

Journal

In a social-media-run-world we LOVE blogging because it gives us a space to share more of our work that just "the highlight reel". Honestly, anyone can take 3 great photos from a wedding to share on Instagram. We love sharing an ENTIRE wedding day so that you can see how consistently beautiful our work is. Plus, it's a fun way for our clients to share their wedding images with friends and family online. We hope you enjoy!

The Lip Zip

Wednesday night turned out to be a late night for us so we were thankful that the clouds didn’t allow the sun to peek through until late in the afternoon yesterday. Although we both woke up around eight, we stayed in bed until after nine o’ clock covering our eyes with pillows, snuggling, and attempting to go back to sleep. Around 9:30 I figured it was time to get up.

“Yay! We slept in! It’s such a cozy day. I love it. How did you sleep? I slept great. I love the flannel sheets. Sooooooo cozy……” Without even opening his eyes, Jacob put his fingers to my lips, zipped them up, and chucked the key across the room.

This was my cue. The imaginary zipper and key (which doesn’t really make sense if you think about it) said it all. “Christin, cork it.”

I silently got out of bed, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and as I curled my hair, it came to me: I know! I will punish Jacob for his snarkiness by refusing to speak to him until he goes, finds the key, and un-zips my lips. A perfect plan to make him pay.

I was so excited about my plan, I grabbed my clothes from the closet and set them on the bed. By this time his eyes were open and he was checking his phone. I made my presence know by making much more noise than necessary and got dressed. He noticed me and asked, “Are Kenny and Sarah coming over to make breakfast?” He fell right into my trap. I ignored him. He assumed I just didn’t hear him (yes, my hearing is actually that bad) and asked again, “When are Kenny and Sarah going to be here?” I looked up, pointed to my pursed lips, and shook my head. He laughed, “Really? This is going to be the best day ever!”

I decided to ignore the rudeness of that comment and picked up my moccasins. I was fairly pleased with my little game and knew he would have to unzip me if he wanted any answers to his questions. I walked downstairs and started unloading the dishwasher. He came down and said, “Did you text Stephen about tonight?” I stayed strong. He responded with a chuckle, “Do you really think this is a punishment?”

My mind started to reel: Wait. What if he really does love it? He will never unzip my lips! Now that I think of it, he could technically get all of the answers to the questions he asked me from other people. He may not need to unzip me for hours, or days! But I can’t give in. Stubbornness is my “thing”. I MUST WIN.

Just then my worst fear came true, I heard the phone ring. He answered, “Oh hey Kenny! Yeah… Are you guys coming over? Cool… Yeah, bring some coffee. Sugar? –Hey Chrissie! Do we have sugar?”

I paused. This was the moment of truth. Would I give up all I had worked for (in the last 34 minutes)? Or, would I hold strong to my convictions and potentially miss out on having a beautiful French toast breakfast?

It was too much to give up.

I chose French toast. “Yes! White or brown?”

This is a dumb story, but it has a moral: Lips are for kissing, not zipping.
