WELCOME TO OUR

Journal

In a social-media-run-world we LOVE blogging because it gives us a space to share more of our work that just "the highlight reel". Honestly, anyone can take 3 great photos from a wedding to share on Instagram. We love sharing an ENTIRE wedding day so that you can see how consistently beautiful our work is. Plus, it's a fun way for our clients to share their wedding images with friends and family online. We hope you enjoy!

The Dance

I went to Nordstrom Rack, since I always seemed to have luck with their dresses. I picked out a perfect black dress that was conservative, but highlighted my waist. When I got home, I headed straight to my sister’s room to steal anything that I might need before she got home from work. I used her eyeliner since I didn’t have any of my own and and then went “shopping” in her jewelry collection where I picked out a pair of gold oval earrings and a bangle to match. After giving myself a once-over in the mirror, I smiled, satisfied. I was ready for our surprise date.

I went downstairs and perched on the edge of the red plush chair in the living room, and looked impatiently out the window for any sign of Jacob’s arrival. I was excited about that night, but for some reason, I was more excited for the wedding on Saturday.

Ever since Jacob had invited me to his friend’s wedding, I had been daydreaming about what our first dance together would be like. I could picture us on the dance floor at the wedding, holding each other close, and twirling effortlessly around until the night ended (in this daydream I was wearing a full-length gown covered in gold sequins, so it wasn’t exactly what you would call “realistic”). Regardless, I was excited to be held by him and couldn’t wait for Saturday.

Just as we were beginning an amazing salsa number in my daydream, a black car pulled up in front of my house. I did a another quick makeup and hair check in the mirror and walked to the front door. I decided I should wait 10 seconds after the doorbell rang so he didn’t think I was just waiting around for him. It rang. 1… 2… 3… I couldn’t wait any longer. I opened the door.

He was clean-shaven, wearing a black polo and he had clearly worked on his hair spikes for longer than usual. He looked so handsome. I gave him a big smile, thankful to know I wasn’t the only one who had done some extra primping for our date.

We spent the car ride talking about the surprise and listening to music. He ended up taking me up into the mountains to a restaurant on Bass Lake. It was so beautiful. We sat on the same side of the table (yes, we are those people), ate delicious food, talked about the incredible view, and just enjoyed one another.

After dinner he asked if I wanted to go on a walk. We walked down to the lake and then along the shoreline. We snuck onto a private dock and held hands as we laughed and took photos of ourselves using different scenarios such as: “There’s a bear over there”, “You just won the lottery”, “Jacob just fell in the water” and, my personal favorite, “There are seahorses everywhere!”

After a lot of giggling and many questionable photos, we decided we should get going, so we started walking towards the car, taking a shortcut and cut through a forest-y area. All of a sudden, Jacob stopped and looked at me.

“Would you dance with me?” he asked, reaching out his hand in invitation. Just as I was about to explain that I didn’t have my full-length dress covered in gold sequins, music started playing from his phone. He put his hands on my waist and pulled me close. We danced as the song played:

I could hold you in my arms… I could hold you forever.

It was so romantic…

What happened next needs to be its own Little Love Story, but let’s just say next week’s story will start with, “That awkward moment when you’re dancing under the stars to an incredibly romantic song and he tries to kiss you and…”
