This week I really wanted to tell a Little Love Story about our anniversary and how it reminded me of my 20th birthday. But, as I was sitting here editing Jessi + Logan’s wedding images I was remembering little moments from their wedding when I just thought, “I love this job.” They were so kind. They just kept thanking us and telling us how comfortable they were with us. These two made us feel so loved throughout THEIR wedding day. Who does that? I felt overwhelmed to tell another Little Love Story; one about the love story we share with our clients friends.

A few months ago, Jacob and I got home late, exhausted from what had been a very long day shooting a wedding. There was a package on our doorstep. I didn’t grab it because I was pretty sure my right arm was already about to fall off from holding my 8 pound camera for 11 hours straight and the thought of carrying the package up our first flight of stairs sounded like the worst idea of all time. Jacob (being slightly less dramatic) grabbed the package.
I slowly made my way up the stairs and plopped down on the couch. I rubbed my temple, wishing I could fall into bed immediately. As my eyes started to droop, I heard Jacob ripping the tape off the package and he said, “It’s for you.” He walked over to the couch and placed the box beside me. I peered into the box, squinting in dim light of our living room. Tears actually filled my eyes when I saw what it was: 6 perfectly adorable, multi-colored, heart-shaped tea cups and saucers. I had posted them on our Facebook page a few weeks before saying that I just loved them, never thinking someone would buy them for me! I looked at who they were from, a client. The emotion came so quickly because 1) I was so physically and emotionally exhausted from the day and 2) I couldn’t believe that a client would send me such a thoughtful, generous gift.

This weekend we traveled to Augora Hills for Jessi + Logan’s Paramount Ranch wedding and then to Santa Monica for Sarah + Chris’s engagement session. Some of our travel plans fell through at the last minute and we found ourselves without a puppy sitter for the whole weekend. We were stressed about having to find someone to stay with her in San Diego all weekend. With such late notice, this didn’t seem like a possibility. We realized that we would be going through Santa Monica on the way up and then would be there Sunday night for our engagement session. We also remembered that one of our past couples (now friends) lived there.
It would be too much to ask. What if they already had plans? What if they just pretend to like Molly, but really think she’s an annoying little ball of fluff? But, we were desperate.
Not only did they joyfully agree, but took great care of her all weekend, taking her on walks, playing with her, posting instagrams, and just making us feel so comfortable. When we picked up Molly Mae late on Sunday night, I was again exhausted, and filled with emotion that this sweet couple was so generous at the drop of a hat. It’s difficult to find friends like that and the fact that we now call these people our friends because they were once our clients is amazing.

There’s something really beautiful about the bond we create with our clients. Jacob and I feel beyond blessed that this is our life; we not only get to document the crazy, beautiful, mix of emotions that is a wedding day, but we become part of their story and they become part of ours. So, thank you to the clients we mentioned in these little stories, and to the MANY others who have also made us feel so loved. We really do love you all.
