Jacob and I aren’t huge “birthday people”. We rarely get each other gifts. We just end up planning a day of fun and then going to a nice dinner. Well, yesterday was Jacob’s birthday and as I was falling asleep last night I realized I didn’t even get him a card! (Don’t worry, I already removed myself from the Wife of the Year Award race.) Today’s Little Love Story is the card I should have given him.
Jakey,
Happy Birthday sweet boy! In some ways I cannot believe you’re 28. That seems so old! But, in other ways I feel like we’ve already experienced a lifetime together and it’s amazing to remember that we have so much more life to live with one another. There are so many things I love about you and I hope that on your birthday, these truths make you feel special.
I love the days that you wake up with a little punky attitude. Like this morning, when you said, “Last one out of bed has to do all the work for the party!” and quickly hopped out of bed. You make me laugh on days like this.
I love the days when you’re sillier then normal. I know it’s going to be that kind of day when you perform your best version of Oklahoma in the shower. I love seeing you laugh and play.
I love your sweet and snuggly days; the ones where you come to my side of the bed and wrap your arms around me. You’ll beg me to stay snuggled up even when it’s far past our normal wake up time.
I love you on the days you’re quiet. You’ll just go about your day in a sweet silence. You don’t say much, but you still have a way of making me feel loved.
I love you on the days you bug me. Whether you’re ruining birthday surprises (like you always do) or being ornery, I always think it’s a little bit cute.
I love you on sunny, beach days and cozy, hot cider days. I love you on work days and play days. I love you on days we are rejoicing and on days we are sad. I love you on your birthday and on your un-birthdays.
I guess the truth is that I love you every day. All day. No matter what.
Jacob, you have the sweetest disposition about you. Your heart for others is evident each and every day. Your love for Christ shows most obviously to me, the one who could see all your flaws, but instead sees a man of God.
On your birthday I want you to know this: that I love you… today and every day.
Happy birthday sweet Jacob.
Your lovebug,
Chrissie
