WELCOME TO OUR

Journal

In a social-media-run-world we LOVE blogging because it gives us a space to share more of our work that just "the highlight reel". Honestly, anyone can take 3 great photos from a wedding to share on Instagram. We love sharing an ENTIRE wedding day so that you can see how consistently beautiful our work is. Plus, it's a fun way for our clients to share their wedding images with friends and family online. We hope you enjoy!

Love Story: We met Welcome Week my freshman year at Cal – a relationship was the last thing either of us were looking for but there seemed to be bigger plans for us. We started dating right away and over the years we have learned how to grow together without growing apart – 7.5 years later we were engaged, 8.5 years later we were married!

Inspiration: We wanted to keep it local, “romantic” with a touch of vintage, and  family oriented. We came up with tons of ideas for how we could really incorporate our family and friends into the day and ensure they had a good time!

Special Details:
Brian’s Shirt. I had Chris’s mom sneak me a shirt of his dads to have a heart cut out and sewn on the inside of he jacket to wear over his heart. It was a way to incorporate his dad on our wedding day.
Fireworks! Although I can’t claim credit for this – it was a wedding gift and surprise :)
Trolley. We wanted to make transportation really easy for our guests so they could enjoy themselves and not have to worry about driving home. It was decorated inside and had a banner in the back that said “Brenna and Chris are getting hitched!”
After Party + shirts. We rented out a restaurant for midnight snacks and set up bars to continue the party! We also had special shirts made  to celebrate the weekend that had our faces and the wedding date printed on them! Played on the local beach theme.
Farewell Brunch. Had a mobile pizza oven come and cook for our guests – he made over 200! Guests loved the “hangover” food along with our bloody mary bar!
Harlem Shake. We bought TONS of props to host the harlem shake! Was such a fun way to keep the energy up!
Day Before – Wedding Party. The boys went golfing and the girls did yoga on the beach. We had a teacher from SF, Martin Scott who was also featured in Yoga Journal Magazine June Issue, teach us a class and I gifted each girl a yoga outfit – navy blue leggings with a hot pink top (wedding colors)!
Guestbook Table. We had our engagement photos tuned into a book that people could sign, bought the letter cups from Anthropologie to spell out my new last name ‘Laird’ which had flowers in them, and incorporated wedding gifts we had received in the décor.
Candy Bar. This was a HUGE hit! Quite a few instagram photos of the candy … we made it all pink to match the wedding colors. We included little goodie bags so our guests could take them home!

Favorite Moment:
Bride. Walking down the aisle.
Groom. Our First Dance.

Musical Choices:Wedding Party down the aisle. “Marry You” Bruno Mars
Bride down the aisle. “Marry Me” Train
Recessional. “When I’m 64” Beatles
Cake Cutting. “Give it all you’ve got tonight” George Straight
First Dance. “Dance Like Nobody’s Watching” Donavon Frankenreiter
Father/Daughter Dance. “I Loved Her First” Heartland
Son/Mother. “Dancing in the Moonlight”  King Harvest
Bouquet Toss. “Single Ladies” Beyonce

Favorite Photo: We BOTH said the black and white photo of us and the fireworks! Its beautiful, represents the FUN of that weekend and was such a memorable moment.
