From the bride, Hannah:
Brennen and I have the classic “high school sweetheart” story. We feel that God brought us together in His perfect timing in His perfect plan. Read more of their love story in the Little Love Story Hannah wrote for their engagement post.
I’m not sure if there was any one particular thing or idea that served as my inspiration for the wedding day, all I knew was that I wanted our wedding to be classic, romantic, and fun. I’m one of those people who tends to like pretty much everything. If you were to look at my Pinterest wedding board you would probably have no idea what I wanted my wedding to look like. I would pin pictures of rustic weddings, vintage weddings, classic weddings, and whimsical weddings. If it were not for my wonderful wedding coordinator, Wynn Austin, the wedding probably would have been a disaster. She helped me to have a clear and specific vision for how the wedding should look and did her part to make it happen. When I arrived on my wedding day, every detail was absolutely perfect and uniquely us, I was in absolute awe. After the wedding I had people approach me and tell me that the wedding was exactly how they pictured Hannah and Brennen’s wedding would be and that it reflected us perfectly. I feel the exact same way and I have to thank Wynn Austin and my wonderful parents for making our special day possible.
My mom was the DIY queen of this wedding. I cannot give her enough credit for all she did. After looking around for invitations and always falling in love with the design that was way out of our budget, my mom decided that she would hand make all 140 of the invitations. From there she went on to hand make all of the programs, menus, place cards, signs and table numbers. She did everything from formatting and heat embossing to gluing tiny pearls to each and every invitation and menu. One of my favorite details of the wedding day was my grandmother’s gold cross that I had attached to my bouquet. She passed away five years ago and never had the opportunity to meet Brennen, but it was so special to me to have something of hers close to me throughout our wedding day. Another one of my favorite details was the Bible verses we had printed on each of our table numbers. Brennen and I picked out 21 of our favorite verses about love and marriage and each table had a unique Bible verse under the table number. Another detail that we included that was very important to my family was that we used wine boxes from my grandparents’ winery as décor throughout the wedding. My grandparents moved here from Germany to start a winery in California, and if it were not for that leap of faith, my family would not be where we are today. We served my family’s wine throughout the wedding.
Brennen and I both agree that our favorite moment of the day was sitting together at our sweetheart table listening to the speeches given by some of our closest loved ones. We were overwhelmed by the love poured out on us and were amazed by the thought and care that went into each speech. We will never forget that moment and we feel so blessed to know that there are so many people who love us and support us.
My advice for other brides is something that I wish I had heard when I was engaged. It is easy to become envious when looking at wedding blogs and magazines and feel like your wedding will never measure up to the gorgeous weddings that are featured. Always remember that your day will be absolutely perfect because you will be marrying the love of your life and you will be surrounded by all those who you love most. Why would you want anyone else’s day? Your wedding will be uniquely you and will be filled with all the details that you chose and worked so hard on. Do not feel like you need to blow your budget to make your wedding measure up to anyone else’s. I promise you, when you look back on your wedding day you will not want to trade your day with anyone else, not for a second.

Although it is nearly impossible to pick a favorite from the hundreds of amazing photos that were taken on our wedding day, I would have to say that our favorite is the one of us on the hill overlooking the sunset with the hot air balloon in the background. Planning an outdoor wedding in January was probably one of the riskiest decisions that I have ever made. Leading up to the wedding day I prayed and prayed that the weather would be bright and sunny. Although my heart desired for a beautiful and sunny wedding day, I knew that even if it wasn’t, God would still be watching over us and blessing our day. Our wedding day turned out to be one of the most beautiful days of the entire winter and the incredible sunset that night was just the cherry on top. Brennen and I both agree that God was smiling on us that day, and when the hot air balloon drifted by, we truly felt that that was His gift to us. Jacob and Christin captured that moment so beautifully and it will be a photo we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
